Tea Time

Posted By - The Starving Bloggist

The Tea Party Movement has claimed its first Republican victim, Senator Bob Bennett from Utah. Bennett was defeated last weekend in Utah's Republican primary election by two Tea Party candidates, former assistant U.S. Attorney Mike Lee and businessman Tim Bridgewater. The two remaining candidates will compete for the nomination in another primary election that will take place sometime this June. If the Tea Party movement is going to be successful it must take over the Republican Party through primary elections. I hope every registered voter realizes how important this midterm election is, and we cannot waste it on a third party political experiment. There will be 37 elections for state Governors, 36 elections in the US Senate and all 435 seats in the House Of Representatives are up for grabs this year. If the Democrats do not shape up they could lose their majority in both the House and Senate. Rand Paul in Kentucky, Marco Rubio in Florida and Chuck DeVore of California are Tea Party candidates that are running successful grassroots campaigns against established Republicans in primary elections. Make sure you, your friends and your family are all registered to vote before your local deadlines. If you can spare some of your precious time on election day, check the box to volunteer at your local election booths. It would be nice to finally get a few honest people involved in the election process.

What Next

Last week, a girl in Texas was given a week of detention for the horrible crime of having a Jolly Rancher candy in her possession that was given to her by one of her friends. A few months ago, there was a boy in New Jersey who had a piece of home made pound cake placed in his lunch by his mother. His school confiscated the cake and told him he would not be allowed to have "junk food" in his lunches. His parents thought it was nonsense, so the next day, he once again had a piece of home made pound cake removed from his lunch bag with a warning that he would get in trouble if he brought it again. His parents called the school and read them the riot act about it. The New Jersey school backed down and allowed him to have the cake as long as it was home made. When I was in school, you were fine as long as you had a lunch. The teachers did not go through your bag looking for contraband potato chips. In fact, most of the kids had a sandwich, chips, some sort of fruit and some kind of desert. We bought a little carton of milk at the lunch counter. And we did not have the childhood obesity problem we are seeing today. So what's next? Are they going to come to our houses and go through our kitchens? Are the schools going to place timers on our TV sets to control the amount our kids watch? Will they set our kids' bedtimes for us and place them in detention if they stay up too late? Where does this madness end?

Obamnesty

Posted By - The Starving Bloggist

In the last 14 months, President Obama has Socialized our healthcare system and destroyed our free market financial system. Obama is not done yet, his next victim will be our immigration system. Obama wants a comprehensive immigration reform bill that would establish a national ID card system to prevent employers from hiring illegal aliens. This universally required card would contain a biometric computer chip encoded with your fingerprints and the vein patterns on the top of you hands. Are you kidding me? We do not need immigration reform, we need to start enforcing the immigration laws that we currently have. Instead of ignoring the illegals, maybe it is time the authorities started deporting the illegals. We already have the E-verify system that allows companies to check their employees information against a Social Security database. The Department Of Homeland Security has recently released a report that admits the E-verify system successfully detects an illegal employee around 50 percent of the time. President Obama also wants to give the 11 million illegal aliens currently living in this country instant American citizenship in exchange for a small penalty payment. If they actually came here legally, then they are fine with me. That is what this great country is founded on, a melting pot of legal immigration. But if they snuck into this country illegally, they need to be detained and then deported. We also need harsher penalties to discourage businesses from hiring these illegal aliens. There are too many illegals for the farms to employ, so the illegals have invaded the construction field, the local factories and the food industry. Jobs that were once for blue collar citizens, kids out of college/high school, and the elderly have been given to illegal immigrants for half as much money. Silly President, the illegals have found a way around the E-verify system and they will just as easily find their way around the national ID card system.

Rooseveltisms

"There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all. The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic. There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else." -Theodore Roosevelt, 1915.

Oily Histrionics

Executives of British Petroleum, the oil company leasing the collapsed Deepwater Horizon oil rig, have already publicly fallen on their collective sword and have said many times they will cover the entire cost of mitigation and cleanup. The Obama Administration, though, continues to grandstand in spite of the late and lackluster response from their own agencies, perhaps in an attempt to circumvent criticism. There are two burning questions here. First, with regard to the question of the Constitutionality of Federal response, it's simple. It's not in the Constitution. However, a State's territorial waters extend up to 12 nautical miles from the shoreline. Federal territorial waters extend up to 200 nautical miles. Deepwater Horizon was placed about 130 miles from shore. That, in and of itself, makes this a Federal issue. For those of us, like Hannity, who want to quote the Preamble to the 18 Enumerated Powers to bolster their position (provide for the common defense) and at the same time say the Preamble carries no force of law (and general welfare) are, in fact, contradicting themselves. That argument is moot anyway. The waters in which this incident occurred is Federal, not State, territory. That is where the authority and responsibility stem from. The second question is: Why is the Obama Administration continually coming out on the attack against BP? I have no answer for this short of speculation as to the ongoing need of an enemy to castigate. It would be much more productive for the administration to work in cooperation with BP in order to mitigate this and worry about the bills and blame later. As said before, BP has already accepted full responsibility for the incident. For Obama's Administration to be constantly blaming and posturing makes them look like the mail-room guy who enjoys someone else's downfall because he thinks if someone else looks bad and he points it out, he looks better. This is not the response of a leader. This is the response of the amateur that Obama is proving himself to be, as observed by Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

The Big Target

The Plot Thickens

The Obama Administration does not believe the department of Homeland Security failed us last Monday, when Faisal Shazad was allowed to board an airplane after his name was added on the TSA's No Fly List. They also believe that Shazad was more of an individual extremist and not part of worldwide terrorist organization like Al Qaeda. Are you kidding me? In the last five years Shazad has made 13 different trips to Pakistan and the last time he was there he met with Qari Hussain, one of the leaders of the Pakistani Taliban. Hussain is the one who taught Shazad how to make the bomb that was inside the SUV. We have been lucky, but our luck will not last forever. One of these days the terrorists will actually make a bomb that blows up, instead of just causing a lot of smoke. I think it is time we started a new protocol for suspected terrorists. Forget about civilian court and military tribunals, we need a new terrorism court for suspected terrorists. We need more enhanced interrogations and not less of them. We need to prevent terrorist attacks and not invite more of them.

Homeland Security

The FBI arrested three Pakistani men last night for the attempted terrorist attack in Times Square last weekend. They were all found on an airplane bound for the Middle East that was only minutes away from takeoff and they were arraigned on formal charges this morning in a Manhattan Federal Courtroom. The Pakistani Taliban has already released three different videos claiming responsibility for Saturday's attempted bombing in Times Square. The Nissan Pathfinder that was used in the terror plot was loaded with propane canisters, gasoline tanks, fireworks and 250 pounds of fertilizer. The explosive vehicle was then parked outside of the Viacom building in New York City. Viacom is the parent company of Comedy Central which recently aired a controversial 'South Park' episode that poked fun at the Muslim religion. Are you kidding me? I am not anit-muslim, but I am anti-terrorist. Whether it is converting young American citizens in our own jail system, or its the foreign born Al Qaeda members who sneak into this country through our porous borders, muslim jihadists continue to be a clear and present danger to safety of the American people. It is time for everyone to wake up and realize that Political Correctness is slowly destroying this great country. The authorities are more afraid of getting sued or hurting someones feelings than preventing a drug dealer from selling drugs or a terrorist from blowing up innocent civilians.

Immigrant Solidarity Network

It's the title of an immigrant activist website that can be found at: www.immigrantsolidarity.org. At the top of the page is a quote taken from Martin Luther King Jr. "Never forget that everything Hitler did in Germany was legal." I am bringing this website to your attention because you need to know what we are up against. People who break our laws, trample our sovereignty, bring with them the politics of the places they are trying to escape and expect rights to be conferred on them without having earned those rights are calling us "Nazis." They obviously have no idea what Nazis were and if they did, they would change their minds as to who are the Nazis. For anyone on the Left reading this, I will explain: Nazi is short for National Socialism, or the platform of those on the Left. Your people. But back to the subject. This website supports a completely open border, no regulation of who enters the country, chain migration, and, incredibly, no "guest worker" program. They want to be allowed to come and go as they please with no allegiance to the country they are parasitizing, earn money under the table, not pay taxes for the services they use and allow the drug trade to flourish across our southern border. The cherry on top of the sundae is that they send a good portion of money earned here back to a nation that thinks the entire Western part of the US still belongs to it and the US government is an occupational force. Mexico has been at war with the United States since before the Treaty of Guadalupe was signed in 1848. However, rather than an outright armed invasion, they are sending the least among them. They are using our well- known propensity toward benevolence against us. We are being sold out to a nation at war with us by those useful idiots on the Left who think they are being kind and we are being mean.

Immigration Nation

Posted By - The Starving Bloggist

The first day of May has always been a demonstration day for supporters of immigration reform, open borders and illegal amnesty. This years protests were amplified by the recent passage of a new law in Arizona that allows local police officers to check a suspects citizenship. Several angry protesters were arrested in Santa Cruz, California for setting fires and smashing windows. Almost three dozen protesters, including a Congressman from Illinois, were arrested in Washington, DC for blockading the sidewalk outside the White House. Representative Luis Gutierrez helped plan the civil disobedience with the sole intention of getting arrested to help publicize the protest and to be released in time for his appearance on this week's episode of 'Face The Nation' on CBS. Are you kidding me? The Liberals believe the new law in Arizona is racial profiling, I believe that Arizona is trying to make it easier for the authorities to enforce their existing laws without the fear of getting sued or losing their jobs. Our southern states are not having a problem with an invasion of illegal Canadians, they are having a problem with an invasion of dark skinned Spanish speaking illegal immigrants. This is not racial profiling, this is common sense legislation. If this was a Tea Party protest, the vandalism would of been plastered allover the mainstream media. But, this was a Progressive protest and the media coverage was very positive. What other country would allow illegal immigrants to protest the right to leech of the federal government? If they actually came here legally, then they are fine with me. That is what this great country is founded on, a melting pot of legal immigration. But if they snuck into this country illegally, they need to be detained and then deported.

Jeffersonisms

"Every species of government has its specific principles. Ours perhaps are more peculiar than those of any other in the universe. It is a composition of the freest principles of the English constitution, with others derived from natural right and natural reason. To these nothing can be more opposed than the maxims of absolute monarchies. Yet, from such, we are to expect the greatest number of emigrants. They will bring with them the principles of the governments they leave, imbibed in their early youth; or, if able to throw them off, it will be in exchange for an unbounded licentiousness, passing, as is usual, from one extreme to another. It would be a miracle were they to stop precisely at the point of temperate liberty. These principles, with their language, they will transmit to their children. In proportion to their numbers, they will share with us the legislation. They will infuse into it their spirit, warp and bias its direction, and render it a heterogeneous, incoherent, distracted mass. I may appeal to experience, during the present contest, for a verification of these conjectures. But, if they be not certain in event, are they not possible, are they not probable? Is it not safer to wait with patience 27 years and three months longer, for the attainment of any degree of population desired, or expected? May not our government be more homogeneous, more peaceable, more durable? Suppose 20 millions of republican Americans thrown all of a sudden into France, what would be the condition of that kingdom? If it would be more turbulent, less happy, less strong, we may believe that the addition of half a million of foreigners to our present numbers would produce a similar effect here." -Thomas Jefferson, 1787.
